Check, Please! Lesson 2

Due date: Wednesday, September 8, at 11:59 PM

Your task for this week is to work through Lesson Two: Investigate the Source in the “Check, Please!” Starter Course. This should take you no more than 45 minutes.

To get credit you must do the following:

  1. Open the Google Doc you created last week for Lesson One. This should be titled in the form [Your Last Name] - Check, Please - LIB190 WA1. If it isn’t titled that way, please edit the title — that helps you find it again and it helps me keep track of everyone’s submissions.
  2. At the bottom of the document, type the text “Week 2” and style it as Heading 1.
  3. Follow the instructions for “Your Notebook” from last week’s Lesson One section Introducing the Notebook, Reflection Prompts, and In-Depth:

The format of the notebook is simple. For each fact-checking assignment you will be given a heading. Write the heading in your document in all capital letters. Then hit enter and answer the questions you are asked to answer. Avoid any fancy formatting as you may have to post this in a format where the formatting will not carry over.

Here’s an example of what your notebook might look like:

  1. There are three prompts for Lesson Two: “Sifting: Alexa-enabled toilet,” “Alligator,” and “Volcano plane.” To receive a satisfactory grade you must have an entry for all three prompts.
